5 Point Harness Solution

NEW CAR SEAT - After watching the 5 point harness safety video on u-tube I went looking for a better car seat for my 6 year old daughter. I found one! I have been so impressed with this new seat that I m now selling it. http://www.mypreciouskid.com/car-seat-safety-radian80.html

CAR SEAT FEATURES - It keeps her safer in a 5 point harness until she is 80 pounds! She is very happy with how comfortable it is. I love that it is narrower than the Britax. I can fit 3 across a bench seat in an SUV. Yet it is wider inside where she sits. If also folds up to fit easily in my truck or to carry thru an airport.

RADIAN 80 convertible car seat is the first and only convertible car seat that can holds children to 80 pounds in a 5 point harness. It also folds to a width of 6 ½ inches. It exceeds all US safety standards for infant car seats. This Radian car seat will probably be the only car seat you will ever need. It may be used for newborn infants all the way to children 80 pounds. Since many state require car seats until your child is 8 years or 80 pounds this Radian car seat may be all you need.

SAFE CAR SEAT - Radian80 is the convertible car seat for rear-facing children 5 -33 lbs and forward-facing children up to 80 lbs with the integral 5-point harness. It features a high strength alloy frame and 5 harness slot positions that are all reinforced for forward facing use. A unique detachable base simplifies rear-facing installations. Seat bottom pops-down to provide a forward-facing recline option. 4-layer padding provides extra comfort and support. Includes full body support for infants that converts into height-adjustable head cushions for older kids. The Radian car seat includes padded shoulder strap that attaches directly to the seat for easy carrying. Features SafeStop, to reduce harness load on a child in an accident. It's also the only car seat in the world that folds to just 7" thick.

Ive been researching this because of a lot of talk in a group Im in...I see that car seats can go up to 80 pounds, but, Ive also researched the fact that the LATCH in cars that you hook the car seat to are only designed to hold up to 48 pounds. Some are more, but I have not seen a car/van LATCH that holds more than 50 pounds.

The top of the child's ears cannot go above the shell of the car seat. We just bought the Britax Frontier, and although my daughter is below the height and weight requirements, including seated height to shoulders of less than 18.25" (her shoulders are only 16 1/2"), her ears are slightly above the shell. Therefore, she has to use the seat as a booster. We are still looking for other 5-point harnesses and are disappointed at how these measurements do not make sense in coordination to ear height.

We, too, researched this seat, as it looked like an attractive alternative to the huge Britax Regent. The issue we had when we tried it out in the store was that it is so narrow across the back. At 3-1/2 years old, 36 pounds and 40" tall, my daughter's shoulders already fit very snugly. It was obvious that she wouldn't be able to use this seat to 80 pounds or 53". In fact, I was skeptical we'd be able to get a year's use before she simply was unable to sit in it properly because of the narrowness of the back. Nice idea but faulty execution in my opinion.
